Don’t make any unreasonable demands on the
If you agree,say“Yes”, if you dissent,say “No”.
A journalist is a person who works on a newspaper or magazine and writes articles for
He is so stingy that he never gives anything to others, even his friends or
If you press another key, your meal is prepared and heated for you; then it is brought on along a very small railway line to your seat in front of your television so that you don’t even have to stand up when you get what you 这是一个并列复合句,在分号前后各有一个分句:分号前是一个带有条件状语从句的复合句,主干部分是your meal is prepared and heated for you;分号后是带有两个状语从句和一个宾语从句的复合句,其中so that引导的是结果状语从句,when you get 是时间状语从句,what you need是宾语从句,充当动词get的宾语。
When two cars traveling at 30 mph hit each other(1),an unbelted driver(2),would meet the windshield (3),with a force equal to diving headfirst into the ground from a height of 10 meters(4).

The 16yearold Canadian high school student,Daniel Burd, from Waterloo Collegiate Institute, has discovered a way to make plastic bags degrade(分解) in as few as 3 months,a finding that won him first prize at the Canada-Wide Science Fair,a $10 000 prize,a $20 000 scholarship, and a chance to revolutionize a major environmental
Burd"s strategy was simple: Since plastic does eventually degrade, it must be eaten by microorganisms (微生物). If those microorganisms could be identified, we could put them to work eating the plastic much faster than under normal
With this goal in mind, he ground plastic bags into a powder and concocted(调制) a solution of household chemicals, yeast(酵母) and tap water to encourage microbes Then he added the plastic powder and let the microbes work their magic for 3 Finally,he tested the resulting bacterial culture on plastic bags, exposing one plastic sample to dead bacteria as a Sure enough, the plastic exposed (暴露) to the live bacteria was 17% lighter than the control after six
The inputs are cheap:maintaining the required temperature takes little energy because microbes produce heat as they work, and the only outputs are water and tiny levels of carbon
“Almost every week I have to do chores and when I open the closet door, I have piles of plastic bags falling on top of One day, I got tired of it and I wanted to know what other people are doing with these plastic The answer:not So I decided to do something ”said Daniel
Daniel Burd won first prize at the Canada-Wide Science Fair
he found a new kind of microorganism
he contributed much to environmental protection
he found a way to degrade plastics in shorter time
he could encourage microbes growth in an easier way
Daniel Burd exposed one plastic sample to dead bacteria
make the live bacteria work better
test how effective his method was
know which bacteria worked faster
control the temperature in the process
Maintaining the required temperature takes little energy because
plastics can get hot easily
microbes can produce heat themselves
much carbon dioxide is produced
the temperature can be controlled
